Georgetown, South Carolina is one of the oldest ports in the US and the third oldest town in the State of South Carolina, laid out in 1729.

To foster and promote the enjoyment of classic wooden boats, the Georgetown Wooden Boat Exhibit brings together the finest vessels for display. Georgetown has been a working seaport for more than 250 years, and much of the area's history and culture has been linked to the sea.

The Harbor Historical Association of Georgetown and the Downtown Business Association sponsor the Wooden Boat Exhibit to give both visitors and residents an appreciation for Georgetown's maritime history.

Boats of all sizes will be featured in the water, along the boardwalk and on Front Street. Visitors will be able to meet and talk to wooden boat craftsmen, manufacturers, and owners about techniques and materials. Special maritime exhibits will also be presented to the public.

The events are presented by the Harbor Historical Association of Georgetown and the Downtown Business Association with the help of interested organizations and individuals. The Harbor Historical Association , a non profit organization, has a long range goal of establishing a Maritime Museum in Georgetown and all contributions are tax deductible.
