"A great little bungalow, very gorgeously appointed. The setting is the kind of beautiful you only get in the live oaks, gardens, fountains, ferns and bright sunshine. The patio outside the bungalow is rather handsome, something you can't really get from the photos. Julie and her husband were superb hosts, attending to every need, offering guidance on local food and even helping with beach access. We were privileged to be the first guests in this bungalow, and it's highly recommended for all who may follow. Thanks Julie!"

Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, shift your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Georgetown, SC area travel guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Georgetown, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • To start, have your family select date ranges and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Charming Historic Guest House in the Heart of Town has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
