How to find the best Georgetown, SC vacation property experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • To get the best value, try shifting your family's Georgetown, SC vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Georgetown, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Georgetown, SC visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • To start, have your group agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Historic Georgetown Charm has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
