Strategies to get the very best vacation rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to select the perfect vacation home in Georgetown:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Spectacular Oceanfront Living with an Inviting Kitchen Perfect for Entertaining Kitchens Beach House has 9 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

During your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
