Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Booking your Georgetown, SC vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Georgetown, SC visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your rental search:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 9 Bedroom Oceanfront Beach House in Debordieu has 9 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your trip.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
