When to visit Georgetown & When to book:
- To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.

- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.

- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
