Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Georgetown vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Georgetown, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Georgetown, SC area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Georgetown, SC visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Georgetown, SC vacation home:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Front Street Cottage has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Georgetown, SC rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
