Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • Summer months are high season in the Georgetown, SC area. Book your Georgetown, SC vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Georgetown, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Georgetown, SC area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Georgetown, SC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose dates and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Beautiful Custom Home Overlooking Pond has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your contract.

More tips for your visit:

  • Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
