Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:

Find your best deal:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Georgetown, SC area. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Georgetown, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Georgetown, SC area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Georgetown, SC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose the rightrental:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Cozy 3 Bedroom 2 Full bathroom Home located minutes from Historic Downtown. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • If there's a specific Georgetown, SC destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
