Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • To get the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Georgetown, SC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

How to choose the perfect rental home in the Georgetown, SC area:

  • Begin by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Looking for a cozy villa located next to the golf course? Good Trouble is your answer! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's an individual Georgetown, SC destination you long to visit, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Advice for your stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
