Tips to get the best Georgetown, SC vacation rental experience:
When to reserve a Georgetown, SC rental home & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Georgetown, SC area. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Georgetown, SC trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Live Oak Lodge at Mauresina River Plantation has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If not, email or call the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Advice for your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
