Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Georgetown, SC area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Selecting and booking the perfect Georgetown, SC rental home:
- To start, have your group select trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Classic Second Row Beach House, Short Walk to the Beach has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
