Strategies to get the optimal rental experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Georgetown. To book the best rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Georgetown, SC attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Georgetown, SC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to pick the best rental home in Georgetown:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Classic Second Row Beach House, Short Walk to the Beach has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a particular Georgetown, SC destination you crave, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
