Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
When to go & When to reserve a Georgetown rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Georgetown. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Georgetown, SC visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose the perfect rental:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Cozy beach house just steps to the Ocean has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Georgetown, SC rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
