Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Georgetown, SC rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Georgetown, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Georgetown, SC area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Georgetown, SC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the best vacation rental in the Georgetown, SC area:

  • Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Oatland Plantation has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your contract.
  • If there's a particular Georgetown, SC destination you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
